In psychology the Dark Triad is defined as a set of three personality traits: Psychopathy, Narcissism and Macchiavellianism.

Psychopaths have a tendency towards impulsivity, fearlessness and a lack of remorse.

Narcissism is defined by extreme self-focus, feelings of entitlement and hyper-sensitivity.

Macchiavellianism is characterized by cynicism, manipulation and exploitation.

The three tangos for solo cello reflect these three different traits.
